Jewellery Course and Fabric
on 17-06-2009 07:13

Yesterday I was at a one day jewellery taster course designed to lure people into full time study. (If only I could.)  In the morning we formed a undecorated ring and in the afternoon we played with brass and copper sheets.

The brass and copper have been textured using a skeletal leaf, ballet net and paper - I didn't think fabric would dent metal but there you go.

After the course I treated myself to some new fabric.

I've already got two fabrics in very similar browns and blues and the green and grey was just too pretty to leave.

Coffee Cosy
on 14-06-2009 22:21

Just finished a batch of four coffee cosys from a pattern by SewAlotMore.  One of them will be for a swap-bot swap and the other three are for me and a couple of friends.

I always prefer to make a couple of things when doing small crafty projects.  I made a couple of modifications to the pattern - just in term of seam allowance really.

Charity Craft Sale
on 13-06-2009 18:04

Today we held the first official craft stall alongside my Mum's charity stand.  I sold just under a dozen items and I've got to say I'm reasonably please with that.  The items were made by either Charlotte, Heather or me and included felted flower brooches, glass beaded jewellery, cards  and a few pincushions.

We're not going to make a living from this,  but it was nice to see that things were bought.

Two Tshirts become a Tshirt + Necklace
on 10-06-2009 23:01

Today I've been destroying tshirts for fun.  I saw a fantastic tutorial on how to make quick and easy jersey necklaces on craftzine and tried some custom modification with a scrap of leftover fabric.

To create the tshirt, I drew some stars on the scrap of jersey fabric (purple). Fliped the blue tshirt inside out and pined the scrap to it.  I then stitched over all the lines. Once that was done, I turned it right-side-out and snipped away the top layer of shirt to reveal the purple underneath.

I also made some more bunting out of an ikea pillow case (love that fabric) and some ribbon.
